Volunteer staff are on duty to service the shop, provide information, deal with or pass on enquiries and supervise the displays. If you are thinking of visiting the area, they can point you to local places to stay, from camp sites to B&B and more. They can help you determine the most suitable walk, whether your interest is local history, industrial history, natural history or just plain fresh air. They can suggest local restaurants and cafés for when you are thirsty or hungry and need more than the snacks available in the Heritage Centre. Volunteers also help to manage the collection under the supervision of the honorary curators.
